Tennis has always been a passion for Ben, picking up his first tennis racquet as a youngster and playing with parents and sister. 

In juniors Ben won multiple North Harbour and Auckland age group championships which led him to become a top 15 nationally ranked player in all age groups reaching a top rank of 12 in the country in 12u age group. Ben was a member of the Westlake Boys premier tennis team playing at the 1 & 2 position and also the top doubles pairing.

Earning a Tennis scholarship to Bluefield College in Virginia, USA, Ben had a great first season. He earned Freshman of the year honours, All Freshman first team and All conference first team for the Appalachian Athletic Conference along with finishing the season on a 11-0 win streak. 

Since returning from the States, Ben has been coaching on the North Shore, helping players hone their skills either at the beginner level, giving them the tools to build foundations to become great tennis players, or at more advanced levels trying to improve and compete at competitive levels.
