Tiny Tots Tennis is for children aged 3 to 5 years old. In these sessions we follow the Blue Stage of Tennis NZ Hotshots pathway.

Tiny Tots Tennis enables children to learn the basics of tennis and how to enjoy the game through a series of fun activities, based on the fundamental areas of balance, co-ordination, agility, movement and racquet and ball skills.

In our Red Kiwi classes, we coach the children in all the basics of the game, including: shot techniques, basic tactics, and tennis-specific coordination & athletic skills. We do this in a FUN, safe and low coach to player environment for maximum enjoyment.

We also use red compression tennis balls and smaller tennis racquets so the kids can develop the correct techniques and can learn to enjoy the game through playing it.

In our Orange Kiwi classes, we continue on the Tennis New Zealand Hot Shots theme, further developing all the fundamentals of the game. These include shot techniques, basic tactics and tennis-specific coordination & athletic skills. We do this in a FUN, safe and low coach to player ratio environment for maximum enjoyment.

We also use orange compression tennis balls and smaller tennis racquets so the kids can develop the correct techniques and can learn to enjoy the game through playing it.

Our Green Kiwi classes are for players that have graduated from Kiwi Orange and these sessions are played with a faster green tennis ball using the full court. We continue to develop all of the basics with each players technique and tactics, but now we are concentrated on getting the players match ready to start competing in interclub and tournaments.

We do this in a FUN, safe and low coach to player ratio environment for maximum enjoyment.

In Bronze Kiwi classes, we use the faster and higher bouncing yellow tennis balls using the full court. We further develop all of the players techniques and we have a large focus on singles and doubles tactics. Players in Bronze are either getting ready to play interclub and tournaments or are already but fairly new.

We do this in a FUN, safe and low coach to player ratio environment for maximum enjoyment.

The Silver Kiwi sessions are for players that are advanced in most of the shots but have not quite mastered them yet. These players will have graduated from the Bronze Kiwi group and we continue the themes learnt there by further developing their tactical awareness and consistency in this group.

Our Silver Kiwis are playing tournaments and interclub and want to continue to develop, with future aspirations of making a regional team.

The Gold 1 Kiwi sessions we focus on more advanced skills such as singles patterns of play, movement/positioning and doubles tactics. They are competing in tournaments regularly and are highly ranked in the region within their age group.

Gold 2 Kiwi sessions are for players that have demonstrated that they are highly skilled in all of the shots of the game and have a good tactical awareness in matches. Players in Gold 2 will have graduated from Gold 1 previously.

The Gold 3 players are competing in tournaments regulary and are highly ranked in the region within their age group.

Gold 3 players will have graduated from Gold 2 previously.

For all those budding players aged 5+ who want to learn this great game, our holiday camps focus on hand eye coordination and movement, with expert tuition in all the basic strokes – forehand, backhand, serve and volley.

Older students are also welcome!

Encourages creativity, play, and enjoyment. What parents can expect: Children build confidence with a racquet while improving basic movement skills in a relaxed and inclusive environment.

Term 4 2025

The red ball is larger than a yellow ball and doesn’t bounce as high (just 25% compression), making it a breeze for even the youngest players to hit comfortably. The courts and nets used in the Red stage are much smaller making it easier for kids to move around and enjoy success. Red level players may be beginners, improvers or even advanced players.

Term 4 2025

After mastering the Red stage, children move on to the Orange stage where the ball bounces a little higher (50% compression) and the court is a bit bigger. Orange players play over the regular net on a three quarter length court.

Term 4 2025

The ball used in the Green stage has a higher compression than the Red and Orange stages (75% of a yellow tennis ball) and children play on a full-size court.

Term 4 2025

The second step in our development path for players who want to focus on advanced techniques or have come through the future stars programme.
